El Centro de Gerociencia, Salud Mental y Metabolismo, GERO, es el primer centro en Latinoamérica dedicado al estudio del envejecimiento. Está financiado por el Programa para Centros de Investigación en Áreas Prioritarias, FONDAP, de la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo de Chile, ANID.

Los estudios desarrollados en nuestro Centro están enfocados en comprender los principios básicos del envejecimiento desde moléculas a sistemas. También buscamos descifrar si la población chilena alberga la mayoría de las propiedades genéticas, moleculares y celulares que se han descrito en cohortes de todo el mundo, o si tiene características únicas.
